About Us

PEIE’s Story

Parents Engaged in Education is a charity established in 2015 by a group of parent leaders, focused on providing resources and skill building opportunities to parents and school council members in order to support and advocate for their children's education and school.

When COVID changed our world and closed schools in 2020, the charity shifted their focus to respond to the educational inequities made more pronounced during the COVID pandemic, recognizing that these inequities were largely experienced by diverse, underserved students.

Realizing that one backpack or one program would not achieve the equity threshold needed, we opened CANADA'S FIRST EDUCATION BANK in February 2021.

Join Our Mission

When COVID changed our world and closed schools in 2020, the charity shifted their focus to respond to the educational inequities made more pronounced during the COVID pandemic, recognizing that these inequities were largely experienced by diverse, underserved students.

Realizing that one backpack or one program would not achieve the equity threshold needed, we opened CANADA'S FIRST EDUCATION BANK in February 2021.

The Education Bank is a project of Parents Engaged in Education, designed to support underprivileged families by providing learning resources, school materials, and developmental programs from tutoring to competitive robotics.

Who We Serve

The Education Bank provides diverse, underserved children between ages 4 to 18 years old, in the Greater Toronto Area, with free school supplies, great books, fun activities, amenities for self-care, mental health resources and technology.

It is built on the belief that you cannot just give a child a book, and not the support to improve their reading and literacy skills. At The Education Bank, our kids can participate in learning and creative programs that let them increase their learning as well as have an outlet to explore their creativity.
