June Update | Learn at Home Kits
Last week, Parents Engaged in Education distributed an additional 425 Learn at Home kits, bringing our total to 625.
We recognize that this is just a “drop in the bucket” compared to the needs of students in marginalized communities to have learning and mental health supports during this very difficult crisis.
To continue meeting the needs, we are now working towards producing another 625 kits.
In our last distribution, we supported the following organizations in their work with communities and the impact the virus is having on children/teens in their organizations:
East Scarborough Boys and Girls Clubs
Somali Women and Child Centre
Native Family and Children Centre
Weston Frontlines
Birkdale Shelter
TPH Shelter
Toronto Community Housing
We would like to thank the wonderful partners who have made this work possible including:
Indigo Love of Reading
Nelson Canada
Scholastic
Canadian Curriculum
Learning Advantage
Lego
First Book Canada
Ontario English Catholic Teachers Union(OECTA)
OECTA Toronto Secondary Union
Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation
Union 1819
Cooperators Insurance
Various personal donations
Our volunteers have been working day and night on this project and we have been thrilled with the difference we have been able to make so far and look forward to benefitting more children in the next round of kits.
